Product Information
((1R,2R)-2-Phenylcyclopropyl)methanol (PCPM) is a high molecular weight compound that has been found to have carcinogenic properties. It acts as an activator of the human liver enzyme CYP2E1, which is involved in the activation of many pro-carcinogens. PCPM binds to bacterial enzymes and induces fatty acid synthesis in women. This compound is also able to cause skin papillomas in mice and may be responsible for some cases of human skin cancer. The deuterium isotope effect indicates that PCPM is metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes.
