Description:

It reacts with alkoxides and carbonates to form epoxides. 1-Iodopropan-2-ol also has been shown to react with silicon, forming siloxanes, which are used in the synthesis of polymers. This chemical is catalytic and can be used as a polymerization initiator. It has also been reinvestigated for use in the synthesis of cyclic compounds.
