Description:

Indium(III) acetate is a chemical compound with the formula In(O2CCH3)3. It can be obtained by reacting copper chloride, water vapor, and n-dimethyl formamide. Indium(III) acetate has been shown to increase mitochondrial membrane potential in cells and has been used as an oxidation catalyst for fatty acid synthesis. The reaction mechanism of indium(III) acetate is not well understood but it is thought that it reacts with fatty acids to produce an intermediate film and then undergoes oxidative polymerization to form polycarboxylic acid particles. This process requires activation energies of 5-6 kcal/mol.
