Caerulomycin A is a bacteriocin that inhibits the growth of bacteria by inactivating ribonucleases and other enzymes. It has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity against carcinoma cell lines and Hl-60 cells, which are cancerous lymphocyte cells. Caerulomycin A has also been shown to inhibit the growth of aerobacter aerogenes, a bacterium that can cause infections in people with immune deficiencies. Furthermore, this compound has been shown to bind to iron and picolinic acid, which may be responsible for its antimicrobial activity. Caerulomycin A does not have any known adverse side effects or toxicities.
