14-Chloro daunorubicin is a chlorinated form of the drug Adriamycin. It is an acid catalyst, which means that it can catalyze the conversion of a compound from one oxidation state to another lower oxidation state. 14-Chloro daunorubicin is a metal salt that reacts with chloride and water to produce hydrogen chloride gas and hydrochloric acid. The reaction solution may contain other compounds such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or adriamycin. 14-Chloro daunorubicin is synthesized by reacting cycloalkylidene with an organic solvent in the presence of an expressed protein or synthetic polypeptide, which acts as a catalyst. This reaction product can be used for immunodeficiency therapy.
