Product Information
Name:(6-Carboxyhexyl)triphenylphosphonium bromide
Brand:Biosynth
Description:(6-Carboxyhexyl)triphenylphosphonium bromide is an organic compound that is used in synthetic chemistry. This reactant can be used to synthesize a wide range of compounds, such as methoxylated fatty acids and aldehydes, regiospecific phosphoranes, or optically pure methylated methylketones. It was first described by Hans Witting in 1930. The synthesis of this reagent starts with the reaction of aldehyde and triphenylphosphine to form the corresponding phosphorane. This reaction is stereospecifically controlled by the use of a chiral auxiliary. Then, the phosphorane is reacted with an activated carboxylic acid to give the desired product.
