Dicloxacillin sodium salt monohydrate is a penicillin antibiotic that inhibits the bacterial synthesis of cell walls by binding to the penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) in the bacterial cell wall. It is mainly used for the treatment of infectious diseases, including sepsis, pneumonia, meningitis and urinary tract infections. Dicloxacillin sodium salt monohydrate has been shown to be effective against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Clostridium perfringens. This drug also has a toxic effect on respiratory system cells, which may be due to its ability to induce apoptosis. The optimum concentration of dicloxacillin sodium salt monohydrate depends on the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique used. It should be present at concentrations between 0.02% and 0.5%. Dicloxacillin sodium salt monohydrate can cause drug interactions with benzalkonium
