Doxorubicin is a chemotherapeutic agent that is used to treat cancer. It is known to be active against drug-resistant cells and can be used in the treatment of various forms of cancer, including leukaemia, lung cancer, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and lymphoma. Doxorubicin Impurity 2 (DI2) is an impurity of doxorubicin that has been shown to have a cytotoxic effect on drug-resistant cells. The mechanism of action for DI2 may be due to its ability to form stable complexes with acidic phospholipids on the surface of drug-resistant cells. These complexes are then recognized by the cell's monoclonal antibodies and targeted for destruction by the immune system. DI2 has also been shown to inhibit cell growth in cultures that express adriamycin receptors and daunorubicin resistance genes. This impurity also has a profile similar to doxorub
