Kaerophyllin is a natural product that has been shown to have anti-cancer activity. The mechanism of action of Kaerophyllin is not well understood, but it appears to work by regulating the expression of genes involved in the cell cycle and apoptosis (cell death). Kaerophyllin contains a hydroxyl group that can form reactive oxygen species which may play a role in its cytotoxic effects. Kaerophyllin has been shown to inhibit the growth of colorectal cancer cells in vivo, and also inhibits collagen synthesis.
