Description:

Curcumenone is a phytochemical that has been isolated from the rhizomes of Curcuma longa. It is a secondary metabolite with anti-inflammatory and anti-tumour activities. Curcumenone has also been shown to inhibit the expression of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in human colon cancer cells. The compound was found to be active against both COX-1 and COX-2, which are enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2). Curcumenone is purified from natural sources and can be used as an analytical reference material for HPLC standards or for research purposes.
