3-Chloropyridine-4-carboxamide is a receptor antagonist that binds to adenosine receptors and blocks the binding of adenosine, thereby preventing the effects of this neurotransmitter. 3-Chloropyridine-4-carboxamide has been shown to be an antagonist for the A2B receptor. It also blocks the binding of adenosine to its receptors and thus prevents its inhibitory effects on vasodilation, bronchial constriction, and platelet aggregation. 3-Chloropyridine-4-carboxamide is used as an antihypertensive agent and may also have some analgesic properties.
