Flucloxacillin is a type of antibiotic that belongs to the penicillin family. It is used for treatment of bacterial infections, such as skin and soft tissue infections, pneumonia, septicemia, endocarditis, and meningitis. Flucloxacillin has been shown to be effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. This drug inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes. Flucloxacillin has been shown to inhibit the replication of HIV in vitro. There are no known interactions between flucloxacillin and other drugs or foods. The molecular docking analysis was carried out using a model system consisting of flucloxacillin bound to the 50S ribosomal subunit of E. coli.br>br>Flucloxacillin is used for the treatment of infectious diseases caused by bacteria sensitive to this drug such as bowel disease, tuberculosis, and staphylococcal infection.
