Description:2-Oxolan-2-ylpropanoic acid is a phenoxy, dehydrating, dialkylamino, amide that is hydrolyzed by alkaline metal hydroxides to release 2-hydroxypropanoic acid. It has been shown to have antithrombotic and vasodilator properties in vitro and in vivo. 2-Oxolan-2-ylpropanoic acid also has carboxylate groups that can be used as acceptors for electron transfer reactions. The carboxylate group increases the solubility of the compound in organic solvents such as ethanol or acetone.
