Description:
MBCQ is a novel compound that has been shown to be an effective treatment for diabetic neuropathy and cardiac diseases. MBCQ can be used as a drug for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, but is not yet approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). MBCQ inhibits cyclase activity and also has cholinergic activity. The mechanism of action of this drug is still unclear, but it is thought that autophagy may play a role in its effects on congestive heart failure in rats. It has been shown to increase Ca2+ levels in cytosol and to inhibit PDE-5 activity in vitro, suggesting that MBCQ might have a beneficial effect on erectile function by increasing cAMP levels in penile tissue.
