Product Information
2-Formyl-5-methylbenzoic acid is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of isoindolinones. It is a tetracyclic, hydrazide, and tricyclic compound. 2-Formyl-5-methylbenzoic acid has been shown to be an efficient additive for organic chemistry reactions. This chemical compound can be obtained by iodocyclization of 5-methylbenzene with hydroiodic acid and potassium iodide in the presence of catalysts such as potassium carbonate or sodium bromide. The product can also be synthesized by allylation of 2-formylbenzoic acid with allyl bromide in the presence of copper(II) acetate as a catalyst.
