Product Information
Cathepsin Inhibitor 1 is a protein that inhibits the activity of cathepsins, which are enzymes that play a role in the degradation of proteins. Cathepsin Inhibitor 1 has shown to inhibit actin filament assembly and is currently being investigated as a potential drug for the treatment of viral infections, including HIV and influenza. Cathepsin inhibitor 1 also has anti-cancer properties, blocking cell necrosis and inducing autophagy. It is thought that this protein may be involved in the regulation of syncytium formation during virus replication, potentially leading to new treatments for syncytial viruses such as HIV.
