Product Information
Vancomycin methyl ester is an analog of the antibiotic vancomycin that has been shown to have anticancer properties. It induces apoptosis in cancer cells, particularly in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells and human tumor cell lines. Vancomycin methyl ester acts as a cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor by binding to the ATP-binding site of these kinases, thereby inhibiting their activity. This protein kinase inhibition leads to the downregulation of proteins involved in cell cycle progression, such as cyclin D1 and E2F1, ultimately leading to cell death. Vancomycin methyl ester has also been found to inhibit the growth of certain types of cancer cells by blocking angiogenesis, which is the formation of new blood vessels that tumors need for their growth and survival. Additionally, this compound has been detected in human urine after administration and may have potential therapeutic applications in cancer treatment.
