Apadenoson-d5 is a synthetic ligand for the beta 2 adrenergic receptor, a protein that regulates the rate of cellular metabolism and the release of hormones. It has been shown to bind to both rat and human beta 2 adrenergic receptors with high affinity. Apadenoson-d5 has also been shown to inhibit the function of adenylate cyclase, an enzyme involved in the production of cAMP, which is important for many cell functions including signaling.
