Product Information
Lenacapavir is a potent and selective inhibitor of viral RNA-dependent DNA polymerase (reverse transcriptase) that inhibits HIV replication. It has been shown to have antiviral activity against all HIV-1 strains tested, including those with mutations conferring resistance to other nucleotide analogs. Lenacapavir binds to the dinucleotide phosphate active site in reverse transcriptase, thereby inhibiting the enzyme's ability to synthesize DNA from RNA templates. This compound can be used as a treatment for HIV infection. Lenacapavir has low bioavailability and is not orally available, but it can be administered intravenously or subcutaneously. It is being studied as a potential drug for treating hepatitis B and C infections in addition to HIV infection.
