Lincomycin 2-phosphate is a diluent that is used in the preparation of chromatographic methods. It is typically used with hydroalcoholic solvents, such as ethanol and methanol, to dissolve or suspend solids or gases. Lincomycin 2-phosphate has been shown to be an effective antibacterial agent for the treatment of pediatric infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria, including Streptococcus pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus. The drug binds to the bacterial ribosome and inhibits protein synthesis by interfering with the attachment of amino acids to the ribosomal RNA molecule.
