21-Norrapamycin is an antiproliferative agent that is a prodrug of the immunosuppressive drug rapamycin. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antifungal properties in addition to its antitumor activity. It is not active against cancer cells, but it acts as a prodrug for rapamycin, which inhibits proliferation of cells by inhibiting the mTOR signaling pathway.
21-Norrapamycin also has immunosuppressant effects, as well as antiproliferative effects on human lymphocytes and other cell types.
