Product Information
2-Iodo-4-methylthiopyrimidine (2IMT) is a benzene derivative that is used in the treatment of melanoma. It has been shown to have cytotoxic and antiproliferative activities in vitro against human melanoma cell lines, as well as in vivo against melanoma cells in mice. 2IMT has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of human melanoma cells by binding to nucleic acid. This causes the cell cycle to arrest at the G1 phase, which leads to apoptosis. In addition, this drug inhibits DNA synthesis by inhibiting RNA polymerase II activity, leading to an increase in p53 levels and activation of p21 protein levels.
