Cadazolid is a new antimicrobial agent that belongs to the class of oxazolidinones. It has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth by binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, thereby preventing transcription and replication. Cadazolid has been shown to be effective in vitro against a variety of pathogens, including multidrug-resistant Enterobacteriaceae and Acinetobacter baumannii. The drug also inhibits bacterial growth in vivo, with high efficacy against Clostridium difficile and Enterobacteriaceae. Cadazolid has demonstrated excellent safety profile in clinical trials, with no serious adverse events reported up to now. This drug is metabolized through a number of metabolic transformations, including hydrolysis by esterases or glucuronidases, oxidation by cytochrome P450 enzymes, reduction by glutathione reductase, or conjugation with glucuronic acid. Cadazolid also specifically binds to markers expressed at high levels in My
