CCX 140 is a novel small molecule that is a potent angiotensin II receptor antagonist. It has been shown to have beneficial effects on renal impairment in cell culture and in vivo studies. CCX 140 inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines, such as TNF-α and C-C chemokine receptor, which are involved in the progression of chronic kidney disease. CCX 140 has also been shown to inhibit serotonin reuptake and may be useful for the treatment of diabetes mellitus.
