CSN5i-3 also has pharmacokinetic properties that are favorable for clinical development and it can be used to treat hepatic steatosis and bone cancer. CSN5i-3 is active against infectious diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV by inhibiting host protein synthesis.
