Product Information
Ribocil B is a small-molecule drug that inhibits the activity of bacterial RNA polymerase. Ribocil B binds to DNA and causes cell death by inhibiting protein synthesis, leading to the disruption of the response pathway. Ribocil B has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics, such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Clostridium perfringens. Ribocil B also has been shown to cause neuronal death in rats exposed to neurotoxins. This drug has been shown to have no effect on human serum or human cells in vitro. It is possible that this molecule may be effective against other types of cells in vivo, but further research is needed.
