It also has the ability to inhibit both TLR-3 and TLR-4, which are receptors for the recognition of lipopolysaccharide, an inflammatory molecule produced by Gram-negative bacteria. Apilimod mesylate has a long half-life and provides significant efficacy following long term treatment with no observed toxicity.
