Product Information
AB-680 is a chemical compound that has been shown to inhibit the growth of mouse tumors and human liver cells. It is also a potent inhibitor of ribitol dehydrogenase, which is an enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of ribitol. AB-680 has been shown to have a low toxicity for mice and humans, as well as other mammals. This drug can be used by humans in order to lower their cholesterol levels by inhibiting the production of low-density lipoprotein (LDL). The mechanism behind this inhibition is due to its ability to inhibit the activity of shikimate 3-phosphate synthase, which catalyzes the formation of chorismate. Chorismate is then converted into three molecules of acetyl CoA and one molecule of shikimate 3-phosphate. These molecules are needed for the synthesis of fatty acids and other compounds essential for cellular growth and proliferation. AB-680 inhibits this conversion process by binding to the active site on
