The carbonyl group in this compound is located on the molecule's second carbon atom from the left and has two hydrogens attached to it. This lactam also has a cyclohexane ring with an n-hexane (C6H14) substituent attached to its first carbon atom from the right and a methyl group (-CH3) attached to its third carbon atom from the right. The molecule's configuration depends on whether it contains an odd or even number of each type of bond: bonds that form between two adjacent atoms
