Trimethyl(4-vinylphenyl)silane is a monomer that is used in the production of polymers such as polystyrene, polymethyl methacrylate, and polyvinyl chloride. Trimethyl(4-vinylphenyl)silane is a reactive compound that can be polymerized in an acidic solution to form copolymers. In addition, it has been shown to react with styrene and silicon under conditions that promote cationic polymerization. This reaction produces a film on the surface of the material that is chemically stable and resistant to thermal degradation. The solubility of trimethyl(4-vinylphenyl)silane in organic solvents makes it easy to remove by gel permeation chromatography.
