Description:

Butyl phenyl ether is a glycol ether that can be used as a solvent, an antifreeze, and a chemical intermediate. It is also used to make polymers, diazonium salt, and other chemicals. The butyl phenyl ether undergoes an exothermic reaction with hydrochloric acid to form an oxygenated product with the formula CHClO. This reaction can be used to produce glycols, diazonides, and other products. Butyl phenyl ether is often mixed with water in order to create an optimal reaction environment for polymerization reactions.
