Product Information
Acetylepipodophyllotoxin is a drug that is a derivative of etoposide. It has shown to be effective in treating patients with lung cancer and leukemia, although it is not active against other types of cancer. Acetylepipodophyllotoxin is converted to etoposide triacetate by transesterification with acetyl chloride, which then reacts with alcohols in the presence of a catalyst. This reaction forms an ester bond between the alcohol and the hydroxy-group of the ester. The acetylepipodophyllotoxin can then be purified by recrystallization or distillation.
