Phentermine hydrochloride is an analog of the Chinese anti-cancer drug, fenfluramine. It has been shown to induce apoptosis in tumor cells by inhibiting adenosine kinase and protein kinase C. Phentermine hydrochloride has also been found to have anticancer properties due to its ability to inhibit polysaccharides that are involved in cancer cell growth. In human studies, phentermine hydrochloride has been found in urine samples and is believed to be a potent inhibitor of protein kinases. This drug may be useful as a potential treatment for certain types of cancer, although more research is needed to fully understand its mechanisms of action.
