Description:2,2-Dimethylchroman is a prenylated chroman that has been shown to have anti-oxidative activity in muscle. It is also a potent anti-platelet drug and may be used as an anti-inflammatory agent. 2,2-Dimethylchroman has been shown to inhibit platelet aggregation by blocking the action of adenosine diphosphate (ADP) on its receptor. This inhibitory effect may be due to the nitro group present in the molecule. 2,2-Dimethylchroman also inhibits lipid peroxidation and suppresses lipoxygenase activity.
