Meso-2,3-Diphenylsuccinic Acid (MDSA) is a spin label that contains a phenyl group and a carboxylic acid group. The carboxylic acid group can be used for selective labeling of proteins, DNA, RNA, and carbohydrates. It is soluble in organic solvents such as chloroform and acetonitrile. It can also be used to amplify the signal from spin labels by using buffers with different pH values.
