Product Information
Name:Kaolinite
Controlled Product
Brand:Biosynth
Description:Kaolinite is a mineral consisting of aluminium silicate hydroxide that is found in soils and rocks. Kaolinite is a layered mineral with a hexagonal crystal system and has a high affinity for water and can be used as an adsorbent in wastewater treatment plants. The kaolinite particles are considered to be porous, allowing them to capture organic molecules such as polymyxin B. This is due to the hydrogen bonding interactions between the cations in the kaolinite layers and the hydroxyl groups on the surface of polymyxin B. The thermodynamic data for kaolinite shows that it exists as an amorphous solid at temperatures below its phase transition temperature (Tc). Above Tc, kaolinite undergoes a phase transition and converts into an ordered crystalline structure.
