Manganese naphthenate is a molecule that contains the elements manganese and phosphorus. It is composed of a central Mn atom surrounded by three pyrrole rings with two hydroxyl groups attached to each. Manganese naphthenate also contains one or more carboxylic acid groups, which are responsible for its high resistance to hydrochloric acid and sodium salts. The formation rate of this compound is dependent on the concentration of hydrochloric acid and sodium salts, as well as the temperature. This compound is used in chain reactions to produce polycarboxylic acids and fatty acids. The thermal expansion coefficient for manganese naphthenate is 15x10-6/°C at 20°C, which is greater than that of most other molecules.
