Description

Heroin is a semi-synthetic opioid that exerts its effects by binding to the opioid receptors in the brain. It is used as a treatment for severe pain and other medical conditions, but it has a high potential for abuse. Heroin hydrochloride solution is an intravenous injection of heroin, which can produce euphoria and analgesia. Side effects include nausea and vomiting, respiratory depression, coma, and death from overdose. The pharmacological effects of heroin are caused by activation of the μ-opioid receptor on neurons in the brainstem and spinal cord. The clinical trials for the use of heroin as a treatment for chronic pain have not been completed due to safety concerns.
