Butyraldehyde-2,4-DNPH is a chromatographic reagent that is used to determine the concentration of anisidine in styrene. This reaction is performed on-line and requires the use of hydrochloric acid, acetic acid, and methanol. The colorless product that is formed is measured at 520 nm using a spectrophotometer. Butyraldehyde-2,4-DNPH has been shown to be a good indicator for monitoring the efficiency of peroxide reactions during calibration.
