It has a melting point of −30 °C and a boiling point of 150 °C. 2-Fluorooctanoic acid is soluble in organic solvents, but insoluble in water. It is an antioxidant, absorber, and polymerization initiator. This chemical also has nonlinear optical properties and can be used as a mesomorphic material. 2-Fluorooctanoic acid can act as an inorganic fluoride or spontaneous chiral molecule. It has viscosity and hydrogen fluoride properties that make it useful for pyridinium absorption.
