Description:2-(Diethylamino)ethyl nicotinate 2-hydroxypropane-1,2,3-tricarboxylate is a new antibiotic that belongs to the group of aminoglycoside antibiotics. It inhibits bacterial growth by binding to ribosomes in the cytoplasm and interfering with protein synthesis. 2-(Diethylamino)ethyl nicotinate 2-hydroxypropane-1,2,3-tricarboxylate has been shown to be effective against gram positive bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae and Enterococcus faecalis. However it is not active against Gram negative species such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa or Escherichia coli. This drug also has a protective effect on congestive heart failure by lowering blood pressure and increasing cardiac output.
