Hexane is a colorless, volatile organic compound with a sweet odor. It is the simplest alkane with a straight-chain structure and one of the six simple linear alkanes. Hexane is used as a solvent in the production of adiponitrile, acetonitrile, and other chemicals. A mathematical model has been developed to study the process of polymer film formation from hexane solutions; this model can be applied to optimize process conditions for polymer film formation. The surface properties of hexane have been studied using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.
