The cancer cells are sensitive to inhibition by 3-benzoylcoumarin, which is mediated by the glutamic acid pathway. 3-Benzoylcoumarin has shown antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. This drug also exhibits fluorescence properties, which can be used as a probe for the detection of bacteria in water samples or as an antibacterial agent in water purification methods.
