DL-2-Hydroxylauric acid has been shown to have anti-fungal activity in vitro against Candida albicans and Saccharomyces cerevisiae, as well as inhibitory effects on Escherichia coli. The structural analysis of DL-2-hydroxylauric acid revealed that it contains a hydroxyl group at the 2 position and an ester linkage at the 3 position. This compound can be detected by fluorescence detector with a neutral pH and an ethylene diamine.
