Product Information
BAY 850 is a small molecule inhibitor of the methyl transferase enzyme, which is involved in the synthesis of proteins. It has been shown to inhibit protein lysine methylation, leading to tumor regression in cancer cells. BAY 850 inhibits methyltransferases by covalently binding to the catalytic site and blocking lysine attachment. BAY 850 also binds to bromodomains and blocks the interaction with transcription factors, thereby reducing gene expression. This inhibition is reversible upon removal of BAY 850 from the cell. Configurable assays have been developed for screening BAY 850 analogues with different binding properties (e.g., specificity). These assays can be configured for high-throughput screening and validation for cellular effects, such as apoptosis or cellular proliferation.
