• Description: 1a,1b-Dihomo prostaglandin E2 is a prostaglandin that is synthesized from arachidonic acid by the enzyme prostaglandin synthetase. It is a potent vasodilator that can also be used to regulate blood pressure and heart rate. 1a,1b-Dihomo prostaglandin E2 has been shown to inhibit the uptake of glutathione in rat liver homogenates. This inhibition may be due to its ability to activate the enzyme glutathione reductase, which converts oxidized glutathione back into reduced form. In addition, 1a,1b-Dihomo prostaglandin E2 has been shown to inhibit the synthesis of adrenic acid and pgf2α in porcine tissue.
