Product Information

Name:
Nybomycin
Description:

Nybomycin is a synthetic antibiotic that belongs to the group of antibiotics. It inhibits bacterial growth by binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, thereby preventing transcription and replication. Nybomycin has been shown to be effective against microorganisms such as Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus. The drug also has antiviral properties, which have been demonstrated using in vitro tests with the HIV virus. Nybomycin has also been shown to inhibit human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infection in T cells at concentrations of 0.1-1 μM with an IC50 value of 0.6 μM. This activity is not due to cytotoxicity or interference with viral entry into cells but rather by inhibition of viral protein synthesis and subsequent viral particle release from infected cells.
