Description:

1-Acetoxyindan is a covalent immobilizing agent that is used to immobilize enzymes. It is created by the chemoenzymatic addition of an acetyl group to 1-indanone. The immobilization process is completed by reacting the 1-acetoxyindan with an activated hydroxyl or amino group on the surface of a support material such as glass, polymers, or metals. One advantage of this method is that it provides a high degree of enzyme stability and activity. This method also has the potential for low cost production, since it can be synthesized from inexpensive starting materials.
