Glyceryl trinonadecanoate is an endogenous fatty acid that is a precursor of other lipid molecules. It can be produced by the body through metabolism or obtained from dietary sources. Glyceryl trinonadecanoate has shown to improve insulin sensitivity, which may be due to its ability to activate nuclear hormone receptors in cells. This has been demonstrated using fruit extract as a substrate for propionyl-CoA carboxylase and the subsequent production of glyceryl trinonadecanoate. Glyceryl trinonadecanoate has also been found to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis and scavenge reactive oxygen species respectively.
