Thiarabine is a nucleoside that is classified as a purine analogue. It is used in the treatment of leukemia, lymphomas, and skin cancer. Thiarabine has been shown to be effective against human tumours and carcinoma cell lines with significant cytotoxicity. It has been shown to have synergistic effects when combined with other drugs such as polymyxin B or doxorubicin. Thiarabine also inhibits the tumorigenesis of MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells by inducing apoptosis in leukemic cells.
